Attack on Women’s Rights

LABOR and Green’s proposals for transgender law reform are an attack on women’s and girls’ rights. Any person would be able to claim they identify as a woman, regardless of appearance or anything else, and enter girls’ or women-only spaces with impunity. To question any person who allegedly claims to be a woman would be a breach of the law. To question a person about their sex, a person who claims to be a girl or woman and who has male genitalia will be a breach of the law.

Under Labor and Greens proposals the meaning of the words girl and woman will be erased. Women will have a new definition — “cis women”. I will not attend any previously women-only services that include people who say they are women when they are not biological women. No amount of word manipulation will change many women’s views on this matter.
