Women Speak Tasmania have received confirmation from the Attorney General Guy Barnett that he is considering RTI documents WST provided to him concerning whether the Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds has lied in a Statutory Declaration.
WST wrote to Guy Barnett earlier this month about discrepancies between RTI documents from Working It Out and a Statutory Declaration made by the Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds.
Although much of the RTI documentation obtained was redacted, an email from Working It Out appears to prove that the Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds initiated the process of the organisation of the flying of the trans flag at a women’s rights public forum at the Town Hall in 2022 contrary to her statement in her Statutory Declaration.
WST wrote to Guy Barnett suggesting ‘these matters require an investigation by the Office of the DPP’ as if proved, lying in a Statutory Declaration is a crime under Section 113 Criminal Code Act (Tas).
Following from the Ombudsman’s Report last week and findings that Hobart City council, including Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds has on four occasions breached the Personal Information Protection Act, WST has again written to the Attorney General and and the Local Government Minister Kerry Vincent requesting the Government establish a Parliamentary Inquiry into Anna Reynolds conduct and suitability to uphold the public trust expected of the Office of Lord Mayor. And further, that Anna Reynolds must be stood down pending the outcome of this investigation.
