Information obtained under Right to Information from Hobart City Council has exposed the failure of a campaign backed by Cr Jx Ewin to have a public forum cancelled at Hobart Town Hall.
The public forum Gender Identity in Law – Impacts on women children and transgender people – Balancing the conversation – originally booked for August and now deferred due to COVID lockdowns in Sydney and Victoria, has been rescheduled for 27 November 2021.
“Women Speak Tasmania want to congratulate Hobart City Council for upholding the right to freedom of speech and supporting respectful, open and fair debate on an important public health issue” , said Spokeswoman Isla MacGregor.
‘Minority groups who want to silence people from speaking about the conflict over rights presented by gender law reforms, need to learn respect for diversity of opinion.’
‘Minority groups should not resort to “cancel culture” tactics in order to oppose those who do not agree with their beliefs.’
‘Tasmanians from all cultural backgrounds are seeking more information on the impacts of gender identity ideology on children and women and they have every right to hear from state and national experts in this field’ said Isla MacGregor
