No Men in Women’s Prison! – Letter to the Attorney General

Letter sent to Guy Barnett on 16 November 2025

Dear Mr Barnett,

Many of us were heartened to read your announcement that in Tasmania, like the Northern Territory, men who claim to be “trans” would not be housed in women’s prisons. “At last, some sanity and decency!” we thought. No woman should be locked in a cage with a male of any kind, let alone a sexual predator, as numerous Australian women and women overseas have had to endure.

Then the mystifyingly powerful Rodney Croome delivered his usual Sermon on the Mount about men who claim to be “trans” being “vulnerable and marginalised”, and complaining that their restriction to male prisons is “discriminatory”– and you instantly caved in. What a bitter disappointment.

These men are neither vulnerable nor marginalised, and not all discrimination is unfair. The word “discriminate” also means “to recognise a distinction; to differentiate”. We don’t put adults in children’s detention centres. That is discriminatory, but it’s justified. Segregating male and female prisoners is similarly justified. Being undiscriminating in this situation is idiotic and brutal. The Geneva Conventions mandate segregation of male and female prisoners of war. Why should civilian prisoners be any different?

Men present a danger to women in vulnerable spaces; that’s an undeniable statistical reality, and what’s more, as the UK Ministry of Justice figures show, a very high percentage of trans-identified male prisoners have convictions for sexual offences, far higher than for the average male prisoner. These men are mostly heterosexual, and they’re not being sent to prison because they stole someone’s knitting.

It seems no crime, no matter how heinous and depraved, can deprive a man of his woman card, not even raping a 3 yr. old child. It’s crystal clear that a man “identifying as a woman” says absolutely nothing about his propensity to commit violence against women and children. So why is it treated so sanctimoniously by our institutions and politicians?

More importantly, why does Rodney Croome’s voice strike terror in the heart of the Liberal party? Why should he effectively dictate policy that affects women?

Gender ideology-influenced legal changes were imposed on us without community consultation, thanks to activists directly lobbying legislators. Why did they choose that route? Because they knew most voters could not be persuaded that men can become women nor that children should be subjected to irreversible, medically abusive experiments designed to alter the appearance of their sex.

There was no discussion, no debate and certainly no consent about the jettisoning of women’s rights. How can such a dramatic social and legal transformation be deemed democratic? The rights that women fought so hard to achieve over centuries have simply been dispensed with because suddenly it’s more important for political parties to pander to men who want to be thought of as women. Why?

How is it that these men now have more rights than women themselves? They have the right to “feel safe” and be protected from other men. Meanwhile women, who are incontrovertibly vulnerable to male aggression, must accept men in our spaces, with all the risks this entails. Our safety doesn’t matter, apparently. This is especially the case for women prisoners locked in cells with men, cells from which they cannot escape. Most women prisoners have a history of sexual abuse. How does this not constitute torture?

Many male prisoners face special dangers in prison, including homosexual men, young men, men with developmental and other disabilities, paedophiles, ex-police officers, informers, ex-lawyers, ex-politicians etc. It’s hardly a new problem. Somehow the prison authorities find a way to keep those men safe, as is their duty. But we’re supposed to believe they can’t do so with men who call themselves “transwomen”? Why not?

Which leaves us with the facts: these men are simply being indulged, in the name of a nebulous, unverifiable, quasi-religious entity known as “gender” or “identity”. On the altar of this fantasy-based ideology, women must be sacrificed.

When is the Liberal Party going to grow a backbone? Do you not realise that if the party showed integrity on this issue many former Labor and Green voters, who are now politically homeless in the face of the corruption of the Left by Woke fanaticism, would vote Liberal? Why don’t women’s votes matter, not to mention the votes of all the men who feel the same way about this undemocratic imposition upon society?

More to the point, why don’t Women’s Lives Matter?

Kind Regards
