Coming Together: A Women Speak Tasmania Meeting

In June 2025, Women Speak Tasmania hosted a powerful gathering in Hobart, bringing together women from all walks of life with one shared goal: defending the rights of women and children. It was a meeting of hearts, minds, and stories—where conversations sparked understanding, inspiration, and a determination to act.

Sharing Our Stories, Finding Our Strength

Women openly shared their experiences of how gender ideology is affecting women and children. These personal stories revealed the real-world impact on families, communities, and institutions. A recurring theme emerged: the phrase “just be nice,” often used in discussions about gender ideology, can sometimes hide the deeper harm to women’s rights.

Seeing the Challenges, Feeling the Urgency

Participants reflected on how shifts in society and policy are quietly reshaping definitions of sex and impacting everyday life. Many spoke of the importance of recognizing these changes and the consequences they bring. Yet, some acknowledged that fear, apathy, or uncertainty can prevent action—even when the need is clear.

Turning Conversation into Action

This meeting wasn’t just about discussion—it was about solutions. Women explored ways to actively engage with Women Speak Tasmania, from sharing their voices to joining campaigns and initiatives.

A Call to Action

In the words of the infectiously passionate Mia Hughes (paraphrased):

“People keep asking me why I care about this issue. It’s such a small margin. And I answer: why don’t you care?”

Well said Mia!
