Recommended Websites

Women Speak Tasmania recommends the following websites as trusted sources of evidence and science-based information.

ACON Exposed

ACON Exposed is a gender-critical advocacy website run by an anonymous research group that documents and critiques ACON’s (the former AIDS Council of NSW) extensive influence on Australian workplaces, media, government agencies, universities, and public institutions through its Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) and Pride in Diversity programs. The site uses Freedom of Information documents, emails, training materials, and benchmarking submissions to argue that ACON promotes a narrow LGBTQ+ (especially transgender-focused) agenda under the guise of broad diversity and inclusion, often at the expense of sex-based rights, free speech, and institutional neutrality. It portrays ACON’s partnerships—such as with the ABC—as forms of “institutional capture” that pressure organisations to adopt language, policies, and content aligned with ACON’s views, while sidelining dissenting perspectives on gender identity, women’s spaces, and child safeguarding. The site positions itself as a whistleblowing resource for those concerned about activist overreach in public and private sectors.

Reduxx

Reduxx is an independent online news site founded in 2021 that reports on women’s rights issues around the world. It focuses on areas such as sport, healthcare, prisons, and education, particularly where debates on gender identity affect women and girls. With its investigative articles and commentary, Reduxx has become a platform for highlighting concerns about safeguarding and protecting sex-based rights.

SheWon

SheWon.org is a volunteer-run website launched in 2021 by a woman concerned about what she saw as men displacing women in female-only sports competitions. The site’s mission is simple but pointed: to document cases where male athletes compete (and win) in women’s sports, resulting in female athletes being deprived of medals, records, scholarships, and recognition.

The database currently includes thousands of instances spanning nearly 50 sports, across many countries. Each male athlete’s victory is treated as causing multiple “medals lost,” with a cap at three per event to reflect how one displacement ripples through podium positions (first displaces three, second displaces two, and so on).

Society for Evidence Based Gender Medicine

The Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine (SEGM) is a global, non-partisan non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that care for youth experiencing gender dysphoria is governed by high standards of evidence and ethics—not ideology. With an international network of clinicians and researchers, SEGM evaluates existing treatment studies, commissions independent systematic reviews, and curates an unbiased compendium of the latest research findings. This organization actively facilitates scientific discourse and offers critical analysis of gender medicine practices, making it an essential resource for healthcare professionals, educators, families, and policymakers who prioritize long-term safety, informed consent, and compassionate care grounded in rigorous evidence.

Stats for Gender

The sources for the statistics we use are selected for their reliability. We mostly use peer-reviewed papers; however, we occasionally refer to government-commissioned studies, authoritative bodies’ submissions to governmental commissions, published books, or doctoral theses. In a few cases, we provide references for the purpose of debunking unreliable data.

As this is an emerging field of research, the information on this page may develop over time. Statistics for the transgender population are often difficult to quantify as different definitions are used to describe the term “transgender”. Our focus is to underpin the statements we provide with sound research. We know that these statements cannot comprehensively cover every topic; however, this initiative is intended to bring some much-needed clarity to this area of study.

Stats For Gender is powered by Genspect, an organization which advocates for a non-medicalised approach to gender diversity.
