DPP Investigation into Lord Mayor Anna Reynold’s & Parliamentary Inquiry – Letters To Attorney General Guy Barnett

Letter from Isla MacGregor 03.02.25

Dear Attorney General Guy Barnett,

Re: DPP Investigation into Lord Mayor Anna Reynold’s Statutory Declaration

We are writing to you to provide information obtained under RTI that shows that HCC Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds has provided false and misleading information in her Statutory Declaration made on 17.8.22 as has potentially the former CEO Kelley Grigsby in her Statutory Declaration 17.7.22.

We consider that these matters require an investigation by the Office of the DPP.

The matters concern conflicting evidence between RTI documents obtained by Women Speak Tasmania and Statutory Declarations made by LM Anna Reynolds and CEO Kelley Grigsby regarding the Lord Mayor’s and CEO’s role in organising for the trans flags to be flown on the day of the Coalition for Biological Reality Public Forum held on 26 February 2022 at the Hobart Town Hall.

The RTI documents obtained contain an email from Working It Out to the HCC stating that the Lord Mayor had suggested to Working It Out that WIO contact HCC and ask for the trans flags to be flown. RTI docs show that the CEO did in fact have a role in authorising the flying of the flags contrary to her Statutory Declaration.

We consider that the redacted versions of the documents we received will provide more information.

These documents show a breach in public trust for the Office of Lord Mayor. This is such a serious issue, we felt compelled, even though belatedly, to raise these issues with you.

Attached are the RTI documents and Statutory Declarations from Anna Reynolds and Kelley Grigsby.

We look forward to your advice on the issues we are raising and what action can be taken.

Regards

Isla MacGregor

Letter from Isla MacGregor 16.02.25

Dear Attorney General Guy Barnett,

Thank you for your reply from the 7th February 2025 to our concerns regarding the Statutory Declaration from Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds made on 17.08.22, and that you are considering the matters that we raised with you about whether The Lord Mayor had lied in her Statutory Declaration.

Since receiving your reply we have other additional concerns. The Ombudsman has published a report showing that the Hobart City Council, including Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds, has breached the Personal Information Protection Act on FOUR occasions.

Considering the Ombudsman findings and the satutotary declaration matters  we request the Government to establish a Parliamentary Inquiry into Anna Reynolds conduct and suitability to uphold the public trust expected of the Office of Lord Mayor. And further, that Anna Reynolds must be stood down pending the outcome of this investigation.

We look forward to your reply

Kind Regards,

Isla MacGregor
