Cr Holly Ewin had NO Evidence to Answer

Hobart City Councillor Holly Ewin failed to answer the Question Without Notice from Isla MacGregor from Women Speak Tasmania at last months Council Meeting and again in shorter form at last nights Council meeting.

After providing a response to the question last month in the form of a three page tirade about gender ideology, Cr Ewin could not provide any evidence about unsubstantiated claims Cr Ewin repeatedly posts on fb in breach of Council’s Social Media Guidelines.

The QUESTION to Cr Ewin:

‘On your Facebook page you posted that Women Speak Tasmania –promotes violence in our community’, and that the group’s members are ‘Nazi’. You said that ‘TERFS’ –the slur you use to describe members of Women Speak Tasmania –are ‘white supremacists’. The Lord Mayor and every Councillor in this room should be appalled at such language being used by an elected member of Council to attack members of the community.

The Code of Conduct Panel Determination in respect of the complaint made against you by me and Bronwyn Williams states that:

‘it is beholden of an elected member to maintain a high standard of behaviour as a representative of Council. To this extent, a councillor must avoid making negative public comment or promulgating negative views about any member or groups within the community. The Panel finds that Cr Ewin’s Facebook posts failed to show respect towards the complainants.

The Facebook posts made by Cr Ewin were critical and unsubstantiated, showing the councillor’s lack of respect to the group WST and its spokespersons.

WST is very concerned about the real violence in communities worldwide that has come about as a result of gender law reforms and the unquestioning adoption of trans-inclusive policies by governments and private organisations. Records of violent crimes committed by trans identified persons against children and women are being archived on two publicly available webpages:

This Never Happens facebook page and Transcrimes UK

My question to you Cr Ewin is this – Given the Facebook posting you have made about Women Speak Tasmania, can you provide any evidence that any of my views, or those of members of Women Speak Tasmania, have led to any person committing, or being charged or convicted of a violent act or sexual assault against any child or person, and if you cannot provide this evidence, will you apologise to me and other members of Women Speak Tasmania and remove all unsubstantiated, offensive, discriminatory, defamatory and vulgar comments from your Facebook page as the Lord Mayor has suggested?

Councillor Ewin took the question on notice.’
