Dear Simon,
My name is xxxxxxxxx and as a resident of Bass I would like to congratulate you on your re-election as our representatives in the Tasmanian Parliament. It is my hope that you will continue to represent the interests of your constituents in these very challenging times.
I would also like to use this opportunity to make you aware of one of the most damaging health scandals of our generation, as a former GP who swore an oath to Do Not Harm, I can not remain silent while these events unfold. I’m referring to the use of Puberty blockers for children and adolescents in Tasmania and Australia.
The Gender Affirming Care model championed by the WPATH dictates how our transgender youth are treated in Australia and the world, it does not follow evidence based care. It is based on opinion, alleged consensus and speculative evidence. Puberty blockers have been banned in the UK, and many other European countries and some states in the USA. Different inquiries and studies have proven that puberty blockers can be harmful if given to healthy children, with significant long term side effects we are only beginning to see.
Some recent studies like the one from Mayo Clinic shows that puberty blockers cause damage of testicular tissue in boys, this damage contrary to what we are led to believe is irreversable.
I believe a proper inquiry into the use of puberty blockers and the Gender Affirming Model is necessary in Tasmania and how these practices came to be implemented without strong evidence.
I’m attaching to this email the WPATH files for you to read, some of these egregious examples can be found in page 92, where clinicians chat about the development of hepatic carcinomas in a 16 year old girl, other pages 116, 117 reference side effects of puberty suppression.
I hope to get the opportunity to talk with you at your earliest convenience.
Regards,
