Call for Transparency: Greens Must Publish Submissions on Conversion Practices Bill

Women Speak Tasmania has today written to all members of the Tasmanian Parliament calling on the Greens to publicly release every submission received on their Conversion Practices Prohibition Bill 2026.

The submission period has closed, yet the Greens have made no commitment to publish the submissions. Without public scrutiny, Tasmanians will be denied access to information on a major public health and legal proposal.

“National organisations including LGB Alliance Australia and AAWAA, along with community leaders, parents and academics, engaged in good faith,” said WST President Dr Caballero. “In the spirit of the transparency the Greens demand of the government, they must now publish all submissions for proper analysis.”

Emeritus Professor of Law Patrick Parkinson has described the Bill as “deeply flawed,” noting that psychotherapy is now the mainstream approach for gender-dysphoric minors in Scandinavia, Britain and elsewhere. He warned Parliament should not “put its thumb on the scale” in this international medical debate.

“Proper and meaningful consultation must occur before this Bill is tabled,” Dr Caballero said. “Tasmanians have a right to know.”
