ABC Hobart censorship relentless under ACON policy capture

ABC Hobart are not letting up on their relentless censorship of Tasmanians, including two Liberal Party defectors MPs Lara Alexander and John Tucker who have raised concerns about the flaws in the affirmative care approach to treatment of children struggling with gender dysphoria. Their concerns are especially relevant to upcoming anti conversion laws set to be tabled later this year and for which the Government will rely on their support.

Today on the ABC facebook page they posted a link to an ABC article about Premier Jeremy Rockcliff:

Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff steps down as health minister, rules out early election

As he closed his speech, Mr Rockliff said his government would “not be defined by one issue, and two individuals”.

“We will not stand for Parliament debate being driven by political games and speculation of what political trick might be tried next, at the cost of what matters to all Tasmanians,” he said.’

Isla MacGregor from Women Speak Tasmania posted the following comment as the third comment on the fb post:

‘The two defectors aren’t just opposed to the stadium they are opposed to transconversion of LGB and autistic kids via the trojan horse of so called anti conversion laws. Rockcliff knows the affirmative care model of care for young people struggling with gender dysphoria has been banned in over 6 countries. These countries have banned puberty blockers and cross sex hormones for minors because there is no evidence base for their efficacy and lead to serious long term health impacts including sterility. Get back to basics Jeremy needs to start with safeguarding Children and stop gender ideology being rolled out in Tassie schools.’

Matthew Denholm in The Australian reported on Lara Alexander and John Tucker’s concerns on gender reforms in his article which no doubt the ABC has seen:

‘Independents doom divisive social reforms’

Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff’s social agenda appears doomed, with new balance of power independents expressing serious reservations about transgender reforms, voice and treaty.

Yet the ABC still can’t bring itself to mention the ‘transgender issue’ from anything other than an ideologically driven trans perspective. Of course we know why, because they have been threatened with the usual ‘you will cause harm to trans people’ if you allow anyone to comment who does not toe the trans line.

Add to this, that ABC radio staff refuse to allow gender critical people to speak on talkback or read out their comments on ABC Breakfast with Ryk Goddard or Leon Compton on ABC Mornings.

ACON & the ABC We look at the relationship between the ABC and ACON, which runs the Workplace Equality Index Awards — a national benchmark on LGBTQ inclusion. Can the ABC remain impartial when it partners with a lobby group and gets ranked in a competitive index?
